Coaching for Advocacy, Advocacy for Coaching

The 11^th Annual VACMS (Virginia Council of Mathematics Specialists) Conference begins Friday, October 28, 2022 with check-in at 8:00 AM at University of Mary Washington, Stafford Campus, 121 University Boulevard, Fredericksburg, VA 22406. Welcome and keynote address by Skip Tyler begins at 9:00, followed by morning and afternoon breakout sessions.  All sessions end at 3:45.

The theme for the conference is Coaching for Advocacy, Advocacy for Coaching

Coaching for Advocacy

• supporting our students and teachers
• advocating for rigorous/equitable math instruction
• promoting teacher/student growth
• using just-in-time evidence to plan instruction
• good teaching using strong instructional practices
• coaches modeling good instruction

Advocacy for Coaching

• negotiating/navigating the relationship with teachers/administrators to highlight the value of coaches.
• educating others about the role of a coach (e.g., advocating for the coach being a coach, and how to discuss a coach's daily schedule)

Conference Registration Fee:  $125.00 

Conference registration fees include the conference, a light breakfast, and lunch. 

Registration to the conference will be limited to the first 200 registrants.  

NO REFUNDS WILL BE PROVIDED for registrants who cancel registration after October 14, 2022.  

Registrations are not confirmed until registration fees are paid.  All payments must be received by October 14, 2022.  After that date, all unpaid registrations will be cancelled so that those on the waitlist can be contacted for attendance.
